Transfer of authority
On October 31, 2014, the owner of the Trade House "Yarmarka" Yelupov Vyacheslav Yuryevich introduced the new general director to the company's employees. Since October 1995, the date of founding the company, Vyacheslav Yuryevich served as the general director of the company, while being its owner. During the 19 years of the Trading House history there have been tremendous changes, according to Vyacheslav Yelupov, and now the company needs to minimize the influence of the entrepreneur and to execute management according to Western standards. Based on this conclusion, a number of decisions have been made:
1. On January 1, 2015, Natalia Sokolova, who has been the Executive Director since 2011, took the position of the General Director of "Yarmarka". Vyacheslav Yuryevich, being the Chairman of the Board of Directors, will be engaged in strategic management issues. Since 2012 Natalia Sokolova has had training courses in the MBA qualification as part of the preparation process for the position, which she successfully completed last year. Vyacheslav Yelupov is convinced that the General Director must be grown from "internal" candidates, otherwise there is a high probability of a change in values in the company's corporate culture. It is important that the successor fully shares the declared values of the company and is always guided by them in his/her actions and decisions. From the point of view of corporate culture, attracting a third-party candidate is a much more significant risk for the company.
2. Since 2011 a number of strategic sessions has been held, which resulted in the development of a long-term strategy of the company, developed in 2014 by the owner together with the top management. After the work done, Vyacheslav Yuryevich concluded that in the future the team will be able to make changes without the participation of the founder.
3. An important step in the process of transfer of authority was also the reorganization of the company with the participation of consultants on the methodology of Ichak Adizes, a recognized management guru. The use of Adizes’s methodology allows creating a climate of trust and respect in decision making and a harsh dictatorship in the implementation of decisions made.
4. As part of the reorganization, there has been a new company structure and a new process matrix introduced since December 1, 2014. They will allow to quickly and optimally achieve corporate goals and at the same time maintain the entrepreneurial spirit after the resignation of the founder from the position of the general director. The new structure will provide an opportunity not only to carry out the operational management of the company, but also to effectively carry out the necessary strategic changes.
5. In addition, as part of the reorganization, a management accounting system was created, allowing the future Board of Directors and the top management team to monitor the market situation and make timely corrective changes to the Strategy.
6. In early 2015, a Board of Directors will be created with the involvement of independent directors, which will certainly improve the quality of the Strategy development in the future, as well as balance the interests of shareholders, the company and top management.
7. The new brands Yelli and Bravolli, launched in the summer of 2014, as well as the planned release of new product lines in 2015-16, revolutionary for the Russian market, will contribute to further effective growth of the company.
8. Vyacheslav considers the beginning of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to be an important factor in the company's success - the implementation of this project will also help the new General Director in establishing professional management and in creating successful competition in the Market.
Vyacheslav Yuryevich wished success to Natalia Sokolova and the staff of the Trading House, saying with confidence that the company will be stronger every year, and he will make all the necessary efforts to make this happen.
